Our Story

A platform built on solid foundations

It was always a long-term goal to align a client advisory business with a funding business.

From our capital markets experience of listing a funder to working on litigation funding opportunities for clients since 2009 and involvement in several funding and recovery projects; it was, in some ways, inevitable that GRP would be born out of these experiences.

Added to experience was good fortune and timing, as the skillsets and backgrounds of the Founders came together from 2015. GRP is and will always wish to remain a people business – respecting human capital in its transactions.

In 2015 a leading US affirmative recoveries law firm was introduced to our corporate finance business; seeking help to expand their successful US anti-trust practice in Europe.

Originally the relationship concentrated on a number of projects in the business of law; and the generalist corporate finance skillset became focused over the next few years, as the founders worked closely with the funding requirements for firms in the anti-trust sector.

GRP's predecessor had considerable success in its research and relationship based approach - when applied to the business of law, where fundraising and structuring transactions was always at the core. In 2016, Robin and Luke’s capital markets business joint ventured on projects with the John Moore team.

The conversation moved to law firm funding and case funding in response to the term sheets the team were asked to advise on; it soon became clear that we felt there was better value for funding recipients than we were seeing. It felt natural to add value as a funder, to be involved as much and as constructively as possible through the funding life cycle, as a strategic and synergetic investor – as we saw so much in other sectors. We saw no reason why this couldn’t be the same for third party funding.

In 2018 it was decided to set up a stand-alone funding business - Global Restitution Partners. With a clear mission statement: To be a Next Generation Litigation Funder.

To date, GRP has made good progress; organically, becoming the Funder we want to be. We have grown by word of mouth and endorsement, connected by deep founded relationships. The team has naturally expanded and the strong US focus and presence has grown with the addition of Chris Hoffman.
