John Moore
John is a finance veteran with over 32 years' experience in secondary equities and equity capital markets. Together with Robin, John has assembled the GRP team based on two key criteria: first, peerless understanding of the litigation-funding asset class, and second, superb ability to put large transactions together. These transactions require the well-honed skills of matching investment with opportunity and setting pricing to optimise returns. Success in this asset class hinges on human interaction, expertise, and trusted relationships going back many years.
John started his career in 1986 working in investment management for James Capel & Co. A move to the sell side in Nat West Markets in 1994 saw him transition, via a series of employer acquisitions, to Bankers Trust, and eventually, via takeover, to Deutsche Bank. The experience brought him understanding of the huge importance of trusted relationships, teamwork, risk and reward.
In the early noughties, it became clear that more bespoke agency broking offered huge opportunities, and John became a founding partner of Execution Ltd, which was eventually sold to Banco Espirito Santo in 2010. The entrepreneurial and management skills gleaned in this “first mover” business were second to none. Since then, John has continued to cultivate his trusted global introducer and investor network, and led them into alternative asset classes, where both unusually high performance and disproportionate returns are still possible.
Founder and Executive Chairman
In this role, John contributes to all aspects of the company, including business development, client relationships, marketing and management.
This conduit led from 2010 onwards to the then fledgling litigation-funding sector, including working with corporates from 2015 on both sides of the Atlantic, to settle their antitrust claims. The client-focused nature of John’s business and network fitted perfectly into this fast-growing sector and has gone from strength to strength.
John is a countryman at heart and when not rewilding and renovating his latest rural project, or giving fishing reports from Scotland, John is to be found in London or wherever his teenage twins require him. At weekends in town, he can be spotted cycling round Richmond Park, mostly for enjoyment, admiring the wildlife and landscape whilst avidly listening to many a history, finance and political audiobook with which to enlighten his GRP team - but also for payment of his weekly Fat Tax.
